Obituary

Arnold Nathan King, age 82, of Canton, GA. passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009 after a sudden illness. Arnold is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris D. King, the father of 3 children, the grandfather of 7 children, and the great-grandfather of one,  Arnold was born on May 26, 1926 in Franklin Co., GA. He graduated from the University of GA in 1951. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who served with the Seventh Infantry Division on Okinawa and in Korea. He received numerous ribbons for his service. Arnold retired from John Morrell and Co. in sales and from management at Crabapple Sausage Co. He was an active member of Canton First United Methodist Church. He was a Mason (Hickory Flat Lodge), with Scottish Rite and Shrine degrees levels. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 45 (Canton, GA). Arnold enjoyed gardening and working in his beautiful yard. He remained actively involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Arnold King, who was affectionately known as



"Pops", is survived by his wife, Doris, his daughter Susan Brannon and her husband Brent of Cumming, GA, his son Nathan King and his wife Alice of Athens, GA and his son Mark King and his wife Sandy of Conyers, GA. He is survived by 7 grandchildren, Chris and Kyle Brannon, Nate, (wife Tabiatha). Kristy and Kimsey King and Ryan and Holly King and 1 great-grandson Thompson Nathan King. He will also be missed by many other family members and good friends. Funeral Services will be held March 24, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Canton First United Methodist Church with Dr. C.R. Hill and Rev. Ed Towers officiating. Contributions may be made to Canton First United Methodist Church (93 Lower Scott Mill Rd., Canton, GA, 30115), to  United Methodist Children's Home (500 S. Columbia Dr., Decatur, GA 30030). Arrangements by Darby-Huey Funeral Home, Canton, GA. The family will see friends Monday, March 23, 2009, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. They will also see friends Tues, March 24, 2001, 12:30 – 1:30 pm.
