Albert "Al" Joseph Morian, Jr., age 93 of Canton, GA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday morning, March 27, 2019 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain. The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral Home on Saturday, March 30th from 11:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. The funeral will immediately follow at 3:00p.m. in the chapel of Darby Funeral Home with Deacon Charlie Carignan officiating.

Al grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943. While serving in the Navy, he attended Northwest Missouri State University, Rice University, and University of Pittsburgh where he received degrees in both industrial and mechanical engineering. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1949 and served as 2nd Div. Deck Officer on the U.S.S. Olmsted in 1952. He was released from active duty in 1953 and embarked on a 38-year career as a Vehicle Resident Engineer for Ford Motor Company, heading up new product line launches in Dearborn, Michigan while remaining a Lt. in the Navy Reserves until 1966. He was subsequently transferred by Ford to Louisville in 1970 and then to Atlanta in 1980, where he retired in 1994.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Joy DeHaven Morian, his sister, Germaine Morian, and his brother, Ray (Marie) Morian. He is survived by his sons, Mark (Marcy) Morian of Marietta, GA and Greg (Jan) Morian of Woodstock, GA and daughter, Jennifer Morian of San Francisco, CA; his brother, Donald Morian of Murrysville, PA and sister, Theresa Long of Denver, CO; his granddaughters, Megan (Scott) Travis, Ashley (Tate) Ledford, Amanda Morian, Allison Morian and Alyssa Morian and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Rowan; and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be on April 8, 2019 at 1:00p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask for donations to the Cherokee County Humane Society in Canton, Georgia.
