Anne Edge's Obituary

Anna Hightower Edge, Born Nov. 13, 1928, passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2013. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30AM Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from the Canton First United Methodist Church with Interment to follow in the Georgia National Cemetery. Dr. C.R. Hill, Reverend Floyd Tenney and Reverend Ed Towers will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, May 13, 2013 from 3:00 until 5:00 and 6:00 until 8:00. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph Keaton Hightower and Lollye Phillips Hightower and sisters Martha Hightower Haddock and Dorothy Hightower Farmer. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Carl Carter Edge, Jr. and daughters Martha Edge Huffman ( Rocky), Cynthia Edge Zagger (Harry, Jr.) and son Dr.Carl Carter Edge, III (Lizzette). Grandchildren are Darah Joanna Huffman, Anna Huffman Park, Harry ( Manny) Zagger III, Leanna Marie Zagger, Carl Carter Edge IV, & Allen Taylor Edge. And one great granddaughter Josie Elizabeth Park. Anne was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed travel, time with her family and appreciated literature. Anne was born and raised in Damascus, GA. where she graduated from Damascus High School in 1946. Anne then attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Anne graduated with a BS degree in Education. She was an elementary school teacher in Atlanta and Cherokee county. After her teaching career, she worked with her husband in his dental practice. Anne was president of the PTA at Canton Elementary and Cherokee High School. She was a member of the Service League. Anne served on the board of the Sequoyah Regional Library for 25 years and has been a lifelong member of the Methodist church. The family appreciates the kind care by members of hospice and her loving and caring sitters during her illness. In lieu of flowers , donations may be made to the Canton First United Methodist Church. (390 Lower Scott Mill Rd. Canton, GA 30115), or to the R T. Jones Memorial Library (116 Brown Industrial Pkwy, Canton Ga 30114). The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
