Bennie Lee Darnell, born June 29, 1936, in Hickory Flat, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 27, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Bennie was affectionately known as the Mayor of Hickory Flat.

The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral Home on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services in honor and celebration of the life of Mr. Darnell will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Hickory Flat Fellowship Church with Bishop Scott Smith and Pastor Charles Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.

Bennie was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ralph and Eula Darnell, and an infant sister, Mary Francis.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Julie Darnell; daughter, Tinya (Steve) Page of Jasper; sons, Scott (Heather) Darnell of Canton, Ernie (Kelly) Darnell of Canton, Mike (Pat) Morris of Jasper; daughter, Kim Fowler of Canton; six grandchildren, Jason (Laurie) McArthur, Joey (Rebecca) McArthur, David Darnell, Case Darnell, Brannon (Jessica) Darnell, Clay Darnell; seven great-grandchildren, Jarrett McArthur and Lawson McArthur, Khloe Jo McArthur and Bayleigh Cloud, Jace Darnell and Austin Darnell, and, youngest, Skylar.
Bennie is also survived by his two beloved Fur Babies, Rambo and Sadie.
