Bert Lee Frye, age 88 of Canton, passed away on February 2, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00PM Sunday February 14th from the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Cherokee Memorial Park. Reverend Nathan Brandon will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00PM - 6:00PM Saturday February 13th and from 11:00AM Sunday February 14th until the funeral hour.
Mr. Frye was born on January 10, 1933 in LaFayette, Georgia and was the fourth of eight children. Mr. Frye was preceded in death by his parents; Herschel Frye and Blanche Pickard Frye; his wife, Chloe Dowda Frye; sisters, Floretta Frye Middleton, Betty Frye Williams and Charlene Frye Hix; brothers, Marvin "Junior" Frye, Charles Frye and Mickey Frye.

Many loving nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.
Mr. Frye graduated LaFayette High School in 1952, attended Middle Georgia College on a football scholarship in 1953 until drafted into the Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. Mr. Frye attended Kennesaw State Junior College and then received a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from North Georgia College in 1976.
Mr. Frye began his career in law enforcement in 1956 with the LaFayette Police Department until his appointment to the Canton Post 28 of the Georgia State Patrol in 1957. He graduated from the 80th Session of the FBI National Academy in 1967. He was transferred to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in 1963 where he remained until his retirement in 1988.
Mr. Frye and his family were active members of Canton First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon. He was an active member of Canton Golf Club where he pursued his love of golf. He also enjoyed quail hunting, fresh and salt-water fishing.
He was a member of the Lions Club serving in several official roles including President during the 1972 term eventually earning his 35 year Monarch. Mr. Frye co-founded the Kennesaw State University Alumni Association and served a term as President.
Mr. Frye spent most of his retirement years traveling domestically and internationally with his wife. They often shared their travels with family and close friends.
Mr. Frye was an adoring father who is adored by his daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughter.
