Mrs. Betty Ann Phair's Obituary

Betty Ann Phair of Canton, GA died on July 15, 2017 at the age of 74. Betty Ann Graduated from high school in Ft. Pierce, FL where she enjoyed being a cheerleader and received a degree in business from Florida Southern College where she was a member of Phi Mu. Prior to moving to Georgia in 1991, she worked for 10 years at Lockheed Sanders in Nashua, NH as a training specialist where she taught classes to employees and was the administrator for a number of training programs. Locally she worked in the President's Office of Kennesaw State University for 13 years until her retirement in 2005. She was an avid gardener, an active member of her church and loved traveling with her husband throughout the U.S. and Europe. She had lived with recurrent breast cancer since 2011, but she did not want the cancer to define her. She felt she was living with cancer, not battling it.
Through the expertise and care of her great medical team, she was able to continue doing her favorite things for years. The Family would like to express their gratitude to her doctors and staff for their continuing efforts of care and support. We would also like to thank the nurses and doctors of Kennestone Hospital Oncology and ICU units for the loving care provided to Betty Ann.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Ken Phair; her son, Michael Summerlin, Jr. and his family of Concord, NH; her daughter, Michelle Dupuis and her family of Stow, ME; her step daughters, Cathy Kent and Julie O'Neill and their families in MA; her sister, Patricia Atherton and family of Tallahassee, FL; and her sister- in- law, Judy Wetmore and family of Fernandina Beach, FL.
Betty Ann was a devoted wife and mother. She was the type of person who always put others first, even to her dying day. She will be greatly missed by her husband, children and 12 grandchildren. Betty Ann was a devoted Christian whose faith was inspirational to many who she encountered. She passed into God's loving arms with her husband and children at her side.
The funeral service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Marietta, GA on Saturday July 22, 2017 at 11:00AM with a reception following at the church. Burial will be on Monday July 24, 2017 at 2:30PM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ECA Memorial Fund in her name at the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation, 1673 Jamerson Road, Marietta, GA 30066.
