David Anthony Barron, 73 of Canton, GA passed away Friday, October 9, 2020. He was born December 3, 1946 in Cherokee County; Canton, GA to the late JC and Johnnie Mae Barron.
At an early age, David accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior, joined Hickory Log Missionary Baptist church. He was a member of the Mass Choir. Two of his favorite songs to lead were "Standing in the Need of Prayer" and "You Keep on Blessing Me". David also was a self-taught organist and co-lead singer for The Illusions band. He could tear up "Love & Happiness" by Al Green.
David retired from AT&T (Western Electric/Lucent) after thirty years of service. He decided to return to work and was employed by Cherokee County Schools for ten years before finally deciding to retire "for real".
Known affectionately as "TC" -- Top Cat, David loved his family, friends, music and sports.
He was fun to be around. dressed to impress, enjoyed nice cars, dancing, singing, talking smack, had a genuine interest in making sure everybody had a good time and was just a cool dude.
David was also a natural born athlete (lefty). He was a member of numerous bowling leagues, played baseball, softball and basketball. He received a basketball scholarship to Albany State University. He also played baseball for the Winston Pros (Douglas County) minor league team.
When David's health started to decline, he was the most loveably stubborn person you could imagine. He spent most of his days visiting family, riding around in his benz, watching sports, and evaluating the stock market.
David is survived by his daughter, Tannish (Drew) Welch of Woodstock, GA; son Terrell (Stephanie) Barron of Kennesaw, GA; four grandchildren, Tiana Welch (Beaumont, TX), Tariah Welch (Houma, LA), Taya Welch (Auburn, AL) and Tyson Barron (Kennesaw, GA). David was the youngest of eleven and is survived by one sister, Juanita Ransby (Decatur, GA) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
David will be celebrated at a private (immediate family only) service on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery (Canton, GA).
