Ernest "Cliff" Mawhiney, age 88 of Ellijay, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Cameron Hall in Canton, GA. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Mt. Town Creek, off Spring Branch Rd in Ellijay at 2 PM. Mr. Mawhiney is survived by his Son, Ernest Glen Mawhiney of Gilbert, SC; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Reta & John McNeil of Silsbee, TX; Grandchildren, Paul Mawhiney, Johnny & Amy McNeil, Marty & Loretta McNeil, Angela Johnson, Paul Johnson and Tina Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ava Mawhiney; Daughter, Patricia Smart and Mother, Ruby Penny. Mr. Mawhiney honorably served his country in the US Navy.
