Mrs. Evie Mae Giddens age 81 of Decatur, GA, formerly of Canton, GA died February 19, 2015 at the Dekalb Medical Center. The funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday February 24, 2015 at the Zion Baptist Church, Canton, GA. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 12:00 Noon. Pastor Melvin L. Whitlock will officiate. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday, February 23 from 6PM- 8 PM. Interment will be in the Cool Springs Cemetery, Tate GA. Survivors include her son Paul Giddens of Carrollton, GA; grandchildren: Willie Mosley of Decatur, GA, Shatia Veasley of Marietta, GA, Brittany Giddens-Jackson of Conyers, GA & Steven Ballenger of St. Petersburg FL; brothers Alonzo Weaver of Atlanta, GA & John Weaver of Atlanta, GA; sisters Yvonne Gwinn of Atlanta, GA & Brenda Gail Clark of Decatur, GA; 8 great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Giddens was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Bradford Giddens, daughter Larcenia Ballenger and son Harold Giddens. Family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Decatur Housing Authority Community Center. The caring staff of the Darby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
