It is with heavy hearts that the family of Hoyt Lee Ferrell, age 76, announces his passing on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at his home in Waleska, Georgia.
Hoyt was born on November 24, 1947, to Benjamin Henry and Rosa Mae (Tidwell) Ferrell in Cartersville, Georgia. Hoyt proudly served his country in the United States Marines, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a strong sense of duty and loyalty. After his military service, he worked for many years as an assembly line worker at General Motors. Known for his hard work and dedication, Hoyt always put his family first and was a pillar of support to those he loved.
Above all, Hoyt cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Ferrell of Waleska, Georgia; his son, Derrick Ferrell of Canton, Georgia; daughters, Crissy (Henry) Palmer of Lyons, Georgia, Layla Ferrell of Cartersville, Georgia, and Najahe Ferrell Goltz of Cochran, Georgia. He was also a proud grandfather to 9 and great-grandfather to 4; siblings: Doug (Marion) Ferrell of Jasper, Georgia; Charlotte (Mike) Morris of Paulding County, Georgia; and Denise (Butch) Kilgore of Canton, Georgia.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at Darby Funeral Home in Canton, Georgia. The funeral service will follow at 9:00 AM in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Georgia National Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Rev. Darrell Tidwell will officiate the services.
