James Lee Moonshower (Jim)
June 27, 1946 – January 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Lee Moonshower, lovingly known as Jim, on January 2, 2025, at 6:25 PM at Northside Cherokee Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 78 years old.
Born on June 27, 1946, in Newcastle, Indiana, Jim was the son of Lee Wardell Moonshower and Emily Lorene Hicks Moonshower. He was a proud graduate of Selma High School, Class of 1964. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he built the foundation for his future.
On June 14, 1969, Jim married the love of his life, Sheila True Moonshower, and together they created a successful life and family. Jim's career in the land acquisition and right-of-way industry began as a Right-of-Way Agent with Gulf Interstate Engineering in 1968. Later becoming president of Service Resources in Atlanta, GA. In June 1994, Jim and his wife, Sheila founded their own Right of Way company, Moonshower's Inc., which continues to thrive today.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including golf, hunting, and gun collecting. He was a passionate sports fan, following hockey, football, baseball, and basketball. Most importantly, Jim cherished his role as Grandpa, where he found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sheila True Moonshower; sons, Lee Alan Moonshower (wife, Laura Moonshower) and Jeffrey Scott Moonshower; grandchildren, Eleanor Leigh, Coleman James, Addison Kay, and Amelia Scott; his brother, Lou Wardell Moonshower (wife, Sara Moonshower); and his sister, Emily Traister. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Wardell Moonshower and Emily Lorene Hicks Moonshower.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at GA National Cemetery Details regarding the date and time of the service will be shared with family and friends. We invite all who knew Jim to join us as we honor his memory and the legacy he leaves behind.
Jim's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his legacy of kindness, fun, humor, and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to have known him.
May he rest in peace.
