Obituary for James Albert Nelson
James Albert Nelson, age 83 of Canton, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta. A private graveside service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Ott officiating.
Jim was a Captain in the US Army from 1961-1965 and served briefly during the Vietnam War. He then practiced real estate and family law in Florence, SC until retiring in 2007. He was a member of Canton United Methodist Church and regularly attended the Service Sunday School class. He enjoyed canoeing, fishing and woodworking. Jim loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and making people laugh.

Wife - Kay Ellen Nelson of Canton, GA
Daughter - Deborah Ruth Welkner (Gordon Welkner) of Canton, GA
Daughter - Dr. Laura Kay Nelson (Joel Tranter) of Eagle, ID
Sister - Carol Louise Nemitz (Ralph Nemitz) of Anaheim, CA
Grandson - Zachary James Welkner (Katie Welkner) of Canton, GA
Grandson - Kevin John Welkner of Canton, GA
