James John Padgett's Obituary

On the evening of July 12, 2022, James "Jim" Padgett Sr. of Woodstock passed away
unexpectedly surrounded by his wife, son, daughter, and son-in-law. Jim was 74 years old.
Jim was born in Trenton, NJ as the only child of James Johnson and Elsie Padgett of Morrisville,
PA.

After an almost 3-year Army career, Jim returned to marry the love of his life Sheila Cassaday
Padgett of Levittown, PA; they were married for 52 years.
Jim spent 25 years as a metal worker and machinist in Pennsylvania before relocating his family
to Georgia in 1989 and spending another 25 years in the same field before retirement.
After his retirement, Jim accepted a position as a Cherokee County School Special Needs Bus
Attendant. Jim loved children and immensely enjoyed working with and helping the students.
Jim loved animals and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoyed fishing, camping, and
attending automobile races with his children and grandchildren.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his loving wife Sheila, and children
James Jr. and wife Patti Padgett of Quakertown, PA, Jeffrey Padgett of Acworth, GA and
daughter Julianne and husband Michael Dugas of Woodstock, GA. He is also survived by his 6
grandchildren, Michael, Gavin, Hunter, Caroline, Halen, and Jamie Mae.

Visitation services for Jim will be held at Darby Funeral Home on July 20, 2022, between
11:30am and 1:30pm with a service to follow at the Georgia National Cemetery promptly at
2:30pm. Juli and Mike will accept guests at their home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Phillies Charities, Inc. (215-218-5263) in
Jim's name.
