John Stephen Sams, age 36, of Powder Springs, passed away on June 29, 2014. He is survived by his wife Corinna Luke Sams, parents Melvin and Paulette Sams of Canton, mother-in-law J.R. Luke, siblings Mary Marsh (Ron), Susan Epling (Bobby), Russell Sams (Eaddy), Sisters-in-law Carolyn Koenig (Matt) and Cynthia Beachboard (Timothy), and nine nieces and nephews.
Stephen graduated with honors in 1995 from Sequoyah High School in Canton. An avid and elite golfer, he spent many enjoyable hours on the links with family and friends. Stephen was the 1994 Georgia High School individual state champion. Stephen started his professional career with Stromquist and Company in Smyrna, GA, and held several professional certifications.
Stephen long indicated he would prefer a celebration of his life as opposed to a traditional funeral. To honor his wishes, relatives and friends are invited to join his family at The Fairways of Canton Stratus Grill on Saturday, July 5th, between 2 and 5 PM. All family and friends are welcome. Attire is casual. In Stephen's words "no black unless you are wearing it to be slimming".
