Kathleen Renee Johnson, age 75, of Canton, passed away September 15, 2020 at her home.

She was born September 29, 1944 in Scotland, SD. She met Roger Johnson in high school in Kane County, IL. They both attended the Northern Illinois University, where they began dating. They were married on August 20, 1965.

Kathie was a high school English teacher, but chose to stay home once her children were born. In addition to being a loving mother, Kathie was a hard-working volunteer, dedicating time to the Parent Teacher Organization and to the youth program at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. When her kids were older, she returned to work. She spent 15 years working for Chrysler Financial, retiring in 2002.

In her free time Kathie expressed her creativity through sewing, embroidery, crochet, needlepoint and other crafts. She was also an avid reader. She had a soft spot for hummingbirds, and enjoyed watching them visit the feeder outside her window each day. Most of all, Kathie loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roger Johnson of Canton, son Mark (Alicia Barber) Johnson of Reno, NV, daughter Kristi (Beau) Bradley of Marietta, GA, brother Don (Becky) Retzer of Metairie, LA, granddaughters Avery Bradley, Adrienne Bradley and Laurel Johnson, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jim and Iona Retzer.

Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory
