Mary Arnold Alden, known to many as "G", passed away March 3rd, 2018 at the age of 93. Mary was born on May 5th, 1924 in Worcester Mass. and grew up in Springfield Mass with her beloved Boston terrier, Trey. Mary received a BS in Nursing from Skidmore College graduating with honors after almost failing out her freshman year, a fact she hid from her family until just a few years ago when they discovered a copy of her first semester report card. She went on to earn a MA in Public Health Education from Columbia University.

Mary worked in public health in Michigan and New York before taking time off to raise a family. She returned to work in Atlanta GA where she was a successful business owner. After retirement, Mary moved to Canton GA where her caring neighbors were integral in allowing her to stay living independently. She lived a life filled with adventure and travel, making it to every continent but Africa.
She attributed her longevity, in large part, to regular meals with Brad and Stacy at Yoon Sushi.

Mary is survived by her son Jud Alden along with his wife Dana Thompson of White, GA and daughter Judy Lycke of Charleston SC. Mary is also survived by her three grandchildren; Ally Alden of Whitefish MT, Zane Lycke of Charleston as well as Keil Lycke of Athens GA.

A memorial service will be held at Fields Chapel at 4 o'clock on Friday March 9th, 2018. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mary's honor to the Salvation Army and all are encouraged to enjoy some sushi to celebrate her life.
