Age 81, Myrna Jean Snider Lockhart of Upper Saint Clair, PA. passed away of heart failure on Monday, September 27, 2021; daughter of the late Durward and Nina (Stephens) Snider; sister of Karl (Mary) of Marietta, OH., Anita Douglas of Atlanta, GA, James (Lynn) of Vienna, WV., preceded in death by her sister, Janet S. Smith (Mark) of Mt. Lebanon, PA.; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Myrna was born and raised in Parkerburg, WV., graduating from Parkersburg High School in 1958. Before leaving Parkersburg, Myrna was named Miss Parkersburg and was runner up to respresent WV. in the Miss America contest. From that excitement she went onto WVU, to major in Commerce. This is also where she met her future husband, Thomas G. Lockhart. While married, they traveled the world and lived in many states across the USA and Italy during Tom's military career with the Air Force. She blended her travel experience and degrees while employed by Gifted for 20 years after she moved to Pittsburg in 1994. Myrna was an excellent bridge player, cook, gardener, did needle point, and reading became her favorite hobby. Her nieces and nephews will miss her interesting split pea soup and her peanut butter fudge at Christmas. Probably her best kept secret was her singing and reading voice. Growing up in WV., her musical family sang in church, she had the lead role in musicals at WVU and with her strong voice, Myrna tutored and read for students. She was also a volunteer assisting Federal tax preparations. Interment will be private, contribution in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
