Mrs. Patricia Dolores Ryan's Obituary

Patricia "Dolores" Ryan,79, of Acworth, GA, died Wednesday June 27, 2018. She was born to the late Thurman and Lennie Deal in Chattanooga, TN. She is preceded in death by her brother Lamar Deal. She is survived by her son Robert Ryan and his wife Stephanie and their son Dalton, and daughter Britton of Canton, GA. Michael Ryan and his wife Erika and their sons, Cody and Justin of Acworth, GA

Due to her father's job, when she was very young, they moved to Oak Ridge, TN.
Dolores graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1957. While attending high school she was a part of the Rifle team and Swim team. She was an excellent swimmer and qualified for the Olympic Swim team during high school. Unfortunately, a freak ear injury kept her from the Olympic Team. After high school Dolores attended IBM school, in Atlanta, GA, to become an IBM Key Punch Operator. She spent some time in El Paso, Texas with her Aunt and Uncle then decided to move back home to Oak Ridge, TN. She got a job with the government, in the computer room at K-25 where they built the first atomic bomb. Her father was a welder at the same plant. She soon met and married Donald Dunbar who was a Sargent in the Marine Corp.
They had two boys, Robert and Michael. When Michael was an infant they divorced. When the boys were still small, Dolores met and married George Ryan who was an Electronics Engineer for Southern Railway. George soon moved the family to Georgia for his job. They moved to Allatoona Lake in 1973.
Dolores and George lived an adventurous life. George traveled a lot for the railroad so Dolores and sometimes her boys, traveled with him. They had a great life at the lake with a lot of longtime friends.
She was a fantastic mother. She gave her boys a wonderful childhood. She loved them unconditionally and was always there for them, no matter what. Then came her greatest joy…
Her grandchildren. She wanted to spend all of her time with Cody, Justin, Dalton and Britton. She gave them anything they wanted and took them anywhere they wanted to go and on their way to their destination they would always sing Neil Diamond songs. This is their most fond memory of "Geemaw".
Dolores started working for her sons, at Michael Ryan Trucking, around 2007. She was so proud to tell everyone about her boy's business and that she got to be a part of it. There were very few days she wasn't there up until the end.
She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and loved her church family. She would volunteer to greet children and parents at VBS because she loved people. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for anyone she met. She would help anyone if needed without question. The joy she spread in this world will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 6069 Woodstock Rd, Acworth, GA 30102.
