Paul J. Buehler, 68, of Canton, GA passed away at Provident Village Assisted Living on April 7 with his two sons by his side after battling kidney cancer and vascular dementia. Paul was raised in Pottsville, PA until he enlisted in the US Army as an Infantryman. Mr. Buehler served three Tours of Duty in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne, 196th Light Infantry BDE, and 9th Infantry DIV. He also served in the 3rd and 2nd Infantry Divisions, and the 82nd Airborne Division. During his service, he earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Bronze Star with Valor Device, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. Upon leaving active duty service, Paul returned to Pottsville, where he worked at Ft. Indiantown Gap as a munitions handler, raised his two sons, and retired from the PA National Guard, reaching the rank of Sergeant First Class. In late 2016, Paul moved to Canton, GA to be closer to his youngest son due to medical complications. Paul is survived by two sons, Antonio Buehler of Austin, TX, and Leo Buehler and his wife Rebekah of Canton, GA, and a sister, Cathie Mazzuca and her partner Tom Prince of Pottsville, PA, three nieces, Danielle Kramer, Alisha Buehler, and Regina Buehler, and a nephew, Justin Kramer, as well as numerous extended family in PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Regina, as well as his younger brother, John ("Buzz") Buehler. Services will be held in Canton, GA on April 10, 2017, followed by internment at the Georgia National Cemetery.
