Reed Patrick Shwedo - 57 years old

Left this world after a valiant fight with heart disease. Reed remained positive and influenced others around with his upbeat attitude, always quick with a joke or a humorous remark.

Reed was born in West Islip, New York and later attended Moreland Hills Elementary School in Pepper Pike, Ohio. He went to high school in Reidsville and Concord North Carolina where he lettered in both wrestling and football. Graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1984, where he continued in his football and wrestling endeavors. As a result of his demonstrated competitive spirit, he qualified and participated in the National Prep School Wrestling Championships at Lehigh University. While at Valley Forge he earned an Eisenhower Merit Scholarship for exemplary achievement at the secondary level. He continued his post-grad work at Appalachian State University and North Georgia College.

Reed began his professional career in insurance where he was President at Southern Association Insurance for 14 years, serving communities in the greater Atlanta territory. Reed then became a member of the State Farm team for 20 years.

Reed was fondly known as the dog whisperer by those close to him. His hobbies included golf, cars and music.

He married the love of his life, Melody Salisbury in 1998 having celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with her in July. Their spontaneity together kept every social event light and joyful – a marriage for the ages. He adored and was very proud of his two children are Alexandra (Aly) of Seattle, Washington who is 28 and Patrick of the greater Atlanta area who is 30. Reed is survived by siblings Kevin, Blair, Bradford (BJ), Eric ( Tubby) and Mara Shwedo Work. Reed also wanted to acknowledge his faithful wonder dog, "Abby Normal".
