On Monday, May 18th, Richard Herman Mullenbach passed away at the age of 82 at his residence in Atlanta, GA. Dick was born on July 22, 1937 in Adams, Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with an engineering degree and enjoyed a long career working for Medtronic and Guidant Corporation in the Twin Cities. Dick was married to Cheryl for 22 years until her death in 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Christina Mullenbach, brothers, Jim Mullenbach, and Tom Mullenbach.
Dick is survived by his step children, Ryan Briggs (Tracy) of Minnesota, Jennifer Johnson (Mark) of Atlanta, his brothers, Don Mullenbach (Lorie), Jerome Mullenbach (Mary Ann) both of Minnesota, his nephew Brian Mullenbach (Mary) of Suwanee GA, several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and his grandchildren, Brandon Briggs, Tyler Briggs, Luke Johnson, and Lydia Johnson.
Everyone that knew Dick, knew he loved a good joke (especially a political one), wood working, golf, watching sports (especially the Gophers and Cardinals), and he really enjoyed writing his Christmas letters every year. Dick was an avid reader, especially loving thriller novels and the morning paper. Dick, lovingly known as "Guy" to his grandchildren was an enthusiastic board game player with his grandchildren. His enthusiasm for games of all kinds included his personal enjoyment of watching and betting on horse races and playing scratch off lottery tickets. He was a kind and generous man, donating to local charities. Dick was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Atlanta, GA.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Family requests in lieu of flower donations, please make a donation to the ALS Association, one of the charities Dick supported.
A service will be held at Macedonia Memorial Park Cemetery in Canton, GA on Wednesday, May 27th at 2:00 PM. Due to the pandemic, the family is requesting family only for the service.
