RICHARD HUGHES PRICE, age 71, of Canton, GA, fell asleep in death at home on February 7, 2016, after a prolonged illness. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Lynn Roxey Price; a daughter, Abigail Lynn Price; a son, Christopher Hughes Price, daughter-in-law Rosalyn Reece Price, and granddaughter, Kelin Margaret Price, all of Canton and Marietta, GA, and all of whom will sorely miss this dear soul.
He was born in Rome, GA, in 1944 to Thedford and Louise Price and spent his childhood and much of his adult life in that City. Most of his beloved family members still reside in and around Rome, including: Two brothers, John Price and Ron Rowland; a sister, Glenda Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his paternal aunt, Annette Hames, who resides in Florida.
He was a member of the East Rome High School Class of 1962, the members of which elected him President of his Class. He had many happy memories of growing up in Rome. Richard was gifted in both music and art. In high school he was guitarist for "The Valiants," and later in life, "The Kingston Connection." His artistic talents launched him into work as a skilled draftsman for many years. Later, he worked for Floyd County keeping county map records and as an appraiser for the Tax Assessor's office.
Richard was a kind and gentle soul who brought much peace to those who knew him. He went to sleep in death surrounded by many of his family members, with the fond hope that when he awakens again, he will be answering the call of the God he worshipped, Jehovah, and will arise to enjoy a paradise here on earth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that one make a donation to the animal shelter in his or her city or county in Richard's name. A private memorial service is planned for the family members in the near future.
