Obituary

Robert James Musick, 85,
(May 15, 1934 – June 9, 2019)
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation in the McFather Chapel Narthex at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Canton First United Methodist Church, 930 Lower Scott Mill Road, Canton, GA 30115. A celebration of life service will be held immediately following the visitation in the McFather Chapel.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Linda Lou (Maginnis) of almost 56 years, daughter, Diana Marie Gerdes (Doug) of Canton, GA; son, Robert Andrew "Andy" Musick of Atlanta, GA; son, John Douglas Musick (Lisa) of Tipp City, OH; four grandchildren, Spencer James Gerdes (Yume) of Okinawa, Japan, Parker Douglas Gerdes of Tifton, GA, and Melanie Kristine Gerdes of Canton, GA; Brooke Renee Musick of Tipp City, OH; sister, Kathleen "Kathy" Williams (Richard) of Englewood, OH; sisters-in-law Kay Musick and Joyce Musick both of Tipp City, OH; and brother in law and sister in law James and Donna Maginnis of Hillsboro, OH. He is also survived by a host of nephews and nieces that he was very proud of and many dear friends that he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garlin and Margaret; brothers Ralph and Richard Musick.
Bob was born and raised in Dayton, OH, and was a 1952 graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School, Vandalia, OH. He studied business at the University of Dayton for two years. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, as a radio repairman. That service began a career in electronics that he enjoyed so much. During his career he was employed by Aero Products, Sprague Electric and spent thirty-three years at Captor Corporation, where he worked as a production manager until his retirement in 2003.
He eloped with the love of his life, Linda L. Maginnis, and they were married on June 12, 1963, in Liberty, IN. He always got a laugh from everyone when he joked about losing his Independence in Liberty. He enjoyed many trips traveling across the country with Linda. They were able to visit almost every state, they especially enjoyed Hawaii and Alaska and two wonderful winters spent in Naples, FL. In 2012, they moved to Canton, GA, where he enjoyed long rides in the mountains, listening to country music, golf cart rides to watch the sunset with Linda, playing dominos with friends, feeding the birds, looking for horses and spending time with family and loved ones who came to visit him in Georgia. He always enjoyed his family, friends, dogs and good food; in particular ice cream and cookies!
He was a member of the Tipp City United Methodist Church in Tipp City OH and the First United Methodist Church in Canton, GA. He enjoyed volunteering at the Clothesline in Tipp City and helping with scouting events and helping others in need.
He will be remembered by his gentle ways, kind and helpful nature, and his pleasant smile.
