Sandra S. Williams age 78 of Bent Tree Jasper, GA passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at her home and surrounded by loved ones.
A celebration of her life will be held in the Spring of 2022. Sandra was born on May Day, May 1, 1943, in Atlanta, GA.
From a very young age she grew up around horses and helped raise them. She loved riding the trails of Bent Tree. All the horse trails were named by her. One of her claims to fame was riding in The Blizzard of '93 horseback.
In the 60's she was crowned Miss Reinhardt and belonged to numerous sororities. From Reinhardt College to La Grange College… Sandra loved learning and continued to thrive in her career in helping others. Her education and life experiences helped bridge the gap within the counties surrounding her. A healer to so many that they may find the light within themselves.
Sandra began her career at Spalding County Department of Family and Children's Services working with foster care and adoption. She then transferred to Cobb County DFACs where she was a protective services worker working with Juvenile court. From 1985-2003 she coordinated Adult Mental Health at Georgia Highlands Center for Mental Health. She also oversaw emergency on call during that time. She returned during this time to the University of Georgia and completed her master's degree in social work in 1988. In 1990 Sandra and Leigh Denton opened Blue Ridge Psychotherapy Associates. She spent her life giving selflessly to others. Sandra was creative and had a passion for the arts, music, and love for humanity. Her vibrant spirit was felt by whomever she was around. Her giving heart to those in need was infectious. Her family was extremely important to her. She always made sure everyone was taken care of.
Sandra will be missed by so many. She would have wanted anyone who has known her to continue her legacy. Give back, put others before yourselves and to live each day as a gift. This life is short, and we are only passing through. The greatest gift you could give yourself and those around you is LOVE. Love one another, be kind and never take this life for granted.
In her own words, "When we offer our time, energy and give experiences from which to learn and grow will help teach us more than we have ever known. That's the goal to be a better person. We are not perfect. Pass on the good to others, heal from the past. You are doing a great job at being YOU."
Sandra is survived by her daughter Amy Williams, Sons Joey Williams, and Skyler Denton. Son-in-law, Rodney Bryant. Brothers Stan Stephens and Mark Stephens, Sister, Dianne Wilson, 4 grandchildren; Kim Williams O'Dell, Lauren Williams, Braylee Bryant, Alex Bryant and 2 great grandchildren; Tatum O'Dell and Harper O'Dell along with her Sidekick and BFF Leigh Denton.
Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside of us while we live. (Norman Cousins). There are some who bring light so great to the world that even after they are gone their light will remain. Sandra's footprints on this world will continue through her family and loved ones.
