Wynelle Perkins Sams, age 88, of Canton, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 2nd. Mrs. Sams was the daughter of Robert E. and Lavada Ponder Perkins, was born on March 21, 1925 and was blessed with five brothers and three sisters. She was married to James Wesley (Bud) Sams, who preceded her in death, for 56 years. She was also a long time member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Sams are two sons, Melvin (Paulette) Sams of Canton; Joe (Debra) Sams of Dawson, Georgia; and one daughter Joan (Jerry) Brannon of Canton. Seven grandchildren also survive. They are Greg (Mandy) Brannon of Canton; Wendy (Alan) Hyde of Canton; Mary (Ron) Marsh of Lisle, Illinois; Susan (Bob) Epling of Cartersville, Georgia; Russell (Eaddy) Sams of St. Simons, Georgia; Stephen (Corinna) Sams of Powder Springs, Georgia; and Joeanna Sams of Dawson, Georgia. Nine great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Betty Perkins of Cumming, Georgia also survive.
Mrs. Sams was an avid gardener. She had a special love for flowers and loved sharing these with friends and family. She wanted always to have a project especially with quilting or crocheting. Many members of her family and friends have one of these projects to cherish and keep as a remembrance of her. Family and friends will miss her deeply.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4th from 1:00 – 8:00 PM and Wednesday March 5th, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be March 6th at 2:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church with interment at Harmony Cemetery. Darby Funeral Home in charge of services.
