Autry Dee Dodson I, 73, was called home to his Father in Heaven on Saturday, December 27, 2014 after a valiant 12-year battle with cancer; he was surrounded by loved ones. He was born January 15, 1941 in Poteau, OK to Ganie and Virginia Dodson. He married his sweetheart, Shirley, on December 20, 1963. Their marriage was solemnized in the Oakland Temple on August 19, 1967. Autry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Atlanta Temple as a coordinator, served as the bishop of the Woodstock Ward, and was heavily involved in scouting, seminary and institute. He worked for IBM as a customer engineer for 31 years. He loved to watch football and his Oklahoma Sooners.
Autry is survived by his wife Shirley; children: Dee Dodson (Linda) of Kennesaw, GA; Amy Davies (Rob) of Taylorsville, UT; Jared Dodson (Sarah) of Louisville, KY; Andrew Dodson (Dianna) of Fort Drum, NY; 16 grandchildren; his sister Wanda Magee (Mick) of Colfax, CA; sister-in-law Annette Romine (Wayne) of Alvin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ganie Dodson and Virginia Gentile.
Services will be held Friday, January 2, 2015 at 9am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 3155 Trickum Road, Marietta, GA 30066. Viewing will be Thursday January 1, 2014 from 3-7pm at the same LDS church. Interment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA following the funeral.
