Fred Evan Rehrig
February 1, 1955 – August 11, 2025
Fred Evan Rehrig, 70, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on August 11, 2025. Born February 1, 1955, in Palmerton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Evan and Charlotte Witherich Rehrig.
Fred is survived by his beloved sons, Andrew Rehrig of Brooklyn, NY, and Christopher Rehrig of Chattanooga, TN., cousins Robin Rehrig and Dee Miller. He will be laid to rest beside his cherished wife, Brenda Patrice Kresge Rehrig, at Dinkey Memorial in Lehighton, Pennsylvania.
A man of deep curiosity and generous spirit, Fred lived life with a sense of adventure and purpose. He and Brenda shared a love for European travel, often journeying abroad up to four times a year. Riverboat cruises and international food tours were among his favorite adventures. Fred also had a remarkable talent for baking and cooking — mastering the art of homemade bread, roasting coffee, and creating delectable pastries that his friends and Canton book club members always eagerly anticipated.
Fred was a steadfast supporter of Brenda's artistic career, from mixing glazes to building stands for her pottery and crafting crates for her artworks. His commitment to community and the environment was equally strong — he was active in the Georgia Native Plant Society, working to rescue and nurture native plants, and was a loyal patron of local Canton businesses.
A generous philanthropist, Fred regularly supported the Food Bank, Must Ministries, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. His love of learning was reflected in his impressive education and service: he earned a B.S. in Biology and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master's in Technical and Professional Communication from Southern Polytechnic Institute, and served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy, completing both Naval Nuclear Power School and the Advanced Nuclear Power Course.
Fred's life was marked by service, curiosity, generosity, and love — for his family, his friends, his community, and the world around him.
