Janis Laverne Clevenger's Obituary

Janis Laverne Clevenger, 81 of Canton, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022. Visitation will be Friday, October 21st at Darby Funeral Home from 9:30-11am. A memorial service will follow at 11am in the chapel of Darby Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Norma Rhyne and Gail Lewis. She is survived by:
Son - Robert (Christy) Mesa of Cumming
Daughter - Millie Gail (David) Clark of Woodstock
Daughter - Sandra Elise Rogers of Woodstock
Sister - Karen Clevenger of FL.
Grandchildren - Christina Edwards, Mitchell Hoffman, Rebecca Watt, Sara Carmo, Taylor Lynn Mesa, Tyler Mesa, and Rachael Mesa
Great-Grandchildren - Oliver Edwards, Savannah Edwards, Nora Watt, and Ezri Carmo

She loved her Sunday mornings reading the local tribune and working thru the crossword puzzles alongside Sugar her beautiful Siamese cat. In her retirement years she loved decorating her apartment. Purple was her color. She Loved Canning tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables. also, she Loved to cook and teach others of her delicious recipes/dishes. She also had a talent for making beautiful Jewelry out of crystal beads which for a brief time she sold to others in her apt complex. Wrapping gifts was her talent and passion during the holidays. She was very savvy in using her iPad to play games, use social media, and most importantly get on Amazon and shop. She very much loved her family and always cherished spending time with them. When she was in her midlife, she loved her birds and gardening along with her trips to pikes nursery to plant flowers and/or trees and shrubs. Wisteria was her favorite plant. She worked and excelled in her past careers which included being a real estate agent, selling jewelry, and payroll clerk. She had very good organizational skills as everything had always had its rightful place. She lived in many countries during her early life which included Colombia South America, Mexico, and Belgium.
When she was a child, she would love going down to the ferry (harpers ferry) with her grandad/uncle and go the general store to pick out a candy bar and/or large pickle. Also, she loved her trips back to West Virginia and spending time with her grandmas and her aunts Mimi and Doris.
She was always thinking of others and would always put her needs last especially with her children and other members of her family. She will always be remembered by her family as a special person that filled their lives with her generous love in all her caring ways.
