Katherine Fay "Nanny" Emmett
July 11, 1946 – November 14, 2025
Katherine Fay "Nanny" Emmett, 79, passed away on November 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 11, 1946, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee to Ocie Smith and Quinton Burton, Katherine carried with her the warmth, generosity, and strength that reflected her roots.
Christmas was her favorite season—she delighted in the lights, the music, and the magic that brought family together. But truthfully, every day was Christmas when it came to her grandchildren. They were her world, her greatest joy, and the heart of her life. She loved nothing more than watching them grow, laughing with them, and celebrating every milestone. Her home was always filled with love, stories, and the smell of something wonderful from the kitchen.
Katherine also had a deep love of flowers, finding peace and beauty in the simple act of tending to the blooms that brightened her days. Whether in her garden or in a vase on her table, flowers reflected the tenderness and care she gave so freely to others.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Cindy Worley (Cameron) of Waleska, GA; her devoted son, Carl Grizzard (Karen) of Covington, GA; and her brother, John Burton (Jenny) of Austin, TX. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren—Samantha Moore (Paul), Spencer Grizzard (Tiffany), Kyle Worley (Emily), Craig Worley (Jessica), Quinton Grizzard (Shaheen), Tate Grizzard (Haven), and Jessica Grizzard—and her cherished great-grandchildren: Eli Moore, Oli Moore, Weston Grizzard, Cal Moore, Caroline Worley, Lenora Grizzard, Jack Moore, Cooper Worley, J.R. Grizzard, and Bryer Grizzard.
Katherine will be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the generations she loved so deeply.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, November 18, 2025, at Darby Funeral Home.
Her family rejoices knowing she is finally home, surrounded by the beauty and peace she always cherished.
