Kathryn Luna Whipple Thigpen passed away into the arms of her Savior on the morning of February 26, 2019. She was 99 years old and living in Canton, GA.
Kathryn was born in the bedroom of a family home in Herrickville, Bradford Co., PA on November 7, 1919 in a house built on the family dairy farm in 1854. This farm is still in her family. It's first settlers were Jeremiah Barnes and Sally Aurellia Grant, whose brother was the father of Ulysses S Grant.
Kathryn worked alongside her husband, Ken Thigpen, to build International Time Recording Co., since its inception in 1969 until her retirement. She was also very active in North Atlanta Bible Chapel heading up its Nursery and Missionary Society. If anyone needed help, Kathryn did what she could. She was a kind and caring woman, well-respected by those around her. She nursed many a sick traveler or mother of a new born in her home. She was a counselor to many young mothers, prepared a meal for any in need and had a heart to comfort others. According to her husband, she was the perfect wife. She proclaimed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her life and remained a devoted Christian.
Kathryn is survived by her husband of 73 years, Kenneth Ira Thigpen; daughter and her husband Lois and L. Michael Givens of Peachtree Corners; daughter and her husband Carol and E. Rodney Teat of Monroe, GA. Granddaughters and their husbands Julia Givens and Cary White of Charlotte, NC; Emily Givens and Philip Swindall of Prague, Czech Republic and Laura Givens and Daniel Ludwig of Alpharetta, GA; Tasha Teat and Matt Webie of Madison, AL. Grandsons and their wives are Rodney Teat, Jr. and Elizabeth of Roswell and Joshua Teat and Taylor of Oxford, GA. Kathryn was blessed with 11 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service (Family Only) will be held in her home in Canton, GA at 2:00pm on March 10, 2019.
