Marcia Gail Jarvis Bobo's Obituary

Marcia Gail Jarvis Bobo, age 78, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.

Marcia was born on February 12, 1947, in Canton, Georgia, to the late Gertrude Jane Buchanan Jarvis and George Carl Jarvis. She spent her childhood in the Sharp Top/Clayton Community along the Etowah River, where her family farmed. It was there she met her childhood sweetheart and future husband, Larry Bobo, while both attended Clayton Elementary School. The two later married, built a life together, and raised their family with love and devotion.

Marcia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Bobo; her brothers, George Carl Jarvis Jr. and Dwight Jarvis; her sister, Shirley Owen; her brothers-in-law, Bob Owen, Henry Turner, and James Ward; and her parents, Carl and Trudy Jarvis.

She is survived by her son, Scott Bobo of Canton; her daughter, Julie Bobo Rentz; and her cherished grandson, Logan Thomas Bobo. She also leaves behind her sisters, June Turner of the Clayton Community and Elsie Ward of Augusta, WV; her brother, Gary Jarvis and his wife, Patsy Jarvis of Bowman, GA; her sister-in-law, Carole Jarvis of Johnson City, TN; along with many nieces, nephews, and special family friends.

Marcia dedicated many years to her career at the former Bank of Canton, where she served her community with kindness and care. Known for her warmth, humor, and generosity, Marcia touched countless lives—everyone has their own story of how she listened, encouraged, and brightened their days. A lifelong animal lover, she was joyfully "owned" by a host of dogs, cats, chickens, and even ducks.

She also nurtured a love of history, particularly Presidential memorabilia, and her passion for collecting led to several newspaper and television features showcasing her discoveries. In her later years, Marcia found renewed connection to her childhood church, Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Jasper, GA. When health challenges limited her mobility, she remained devoted to her friends and family through Facebook and social media, continuing to share her love, humor, and faith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Darby Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Macedonia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday and Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Marcia will be remembered for her laughter, her love of family, her servant's heart, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
