Age at the time of death: 69 years old
Melanie was born in Shreveport, Louisiana where her father, Captain Gaines Wilbanks, was assigned. After a tour in Japan, the family was reassigned to Louisiana. During this assignment, her father was tragically killed during an Air Force flight mission. The family then relocated to Decatur, Georgia.
Melanie worked in the Atlanta area as a medical assistant and later enjoyed retired life living in Big Canoe, Georgia. She loved gardening and spending time with her dogs.
Melanie is survived by her husband, John Kuykendall, her loving sister Pamela Wilbanks Harvard; a nephew Brooks Harvard, and a niece Savanna Harvard Andrews.
Melanie was preceded in death by her father, Captain Gaines Gip Wilbanks (USAF); her mother, Maridelle Gill Wilbanks; and her brothers Gaines Gip Wilbanks Jr., and Christopher Hugh Wilbanks.
Plans for a celebration of life service will be announced later.
