In Loving Memory of Michael "Mike" Hilberer
March 3, 1936 – October 6, 2025
Michael "Mike" Hilberer, 89, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025. Born in New York to Anna Hayes and William Hilberer, Mike lived a full and generous life defined by love, service, and family.
At just 17 years old, Mike proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 6, 1953, dedicating himself to serving his country with honor and integrity. His discipline, loyalty, and quiet strength became hallmarks of his character throughout his life.
Mike was a lifelong sports enthusiast who especially loved baseball and football—always cheering for his beloved New York Giants. He also had a passion for bowling and softball, and some of his happiest moments were spent teaching his children, Nancy and Michael, how to bowl, turning it into a beloved family tradition. Later in life, nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren play sports, his pride shining through every smile and cheer from the sidelines.
To his family, Mike was the heart of everything. He was a selfless, loving, and caring husband, father, and grandfather—always there with a warm smile and unwavering support. He never missed an important game, performance, or milestone, showing up with pride and unconditional love. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for adding lightheartedness to any moment, bringing laughter and ease to those around him. His grandson Kevin once wrote a paper in the third grade about his hero—his 'papa'. That simple truth speaks volumes about the kind of man he was.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Hilberer of Woodstock, GA; his daughter, Nancy Rinehart of Roswell, GA; his son, Michael Hilberer of Roswell, GA; his cherished grandchildren, Leah and Kevin Rinehart; and his faithful granddog, Janie, who was always by his side.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the Georgia National Cemetery, with full United States Air Force honors.
Mike's life was a beautiful reflection of love, devotion, and quiet strength. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
