After an extended illness of Alzheimer's, Louise made her transition from physical to eternal life, to a place she has always worked toward, and prepared by God for her on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

One of three children, she was born to the late James Harris and Ora Bell Miller Harris on January 14, 1931. Preceded in death are both of her siblings, Dollie Mae Byrd Holmes, and James Harris, Jr.

She was married in April 1950 to Bobby Cecil Gearing who preceded her in death. To this union, four children were born: Barbara Ann, Bobby Jr., Willie Mae, and Angela. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a loving housewife and worked briefly for Canton Textile Mills.

Louise loved her Hickory Log Baptist Church family. Until her health began to decline, she faithfully served in many areas for many years at her beloved church, including on the Sunday School Board, Bereavement Committee, Deaconess Board, Mission Ministry, and she sang in the choir.

Those left to treasure precious memories are her loving children; Barbara Ann (Calvin) Durham of Maryville, TN, Bobby C. Gearing Jr., and Willie Mae Gearing of Rochester, NY, and Angela Vada (Preston) Johnson of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Angela (Thad) Blackmon; Calvin Durham, Jr., Terry Johnson, Bobby C. Gearing III, Bryan (Kimberlee) Gearing and Kenric Johnson; and 8 great-grandchildren. Her memories will live on through an abundance of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the members of Hickory Log Baptist Church for their visits to Maryville, TN, and the wonderful care she received at Maryville Fairpark Nursing Home in Maryville, TN.

The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral home on Monday, July 24, 2023. from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services in honor and celebration of the life of Mrs. Gearing will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Hickory Log Baptist Church in Canton, Georgia. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.
