Raymond "Ray" Michael Rumble

In Loving Memory of Raymond “Ray” Rumble Raymond “Ray” Rumble, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered into the presence of his Savior after a life marked by faith, service, and boundless love. Above all else, Ray was a man who lit up every room he walked into—his compassion, joy, and warmth overflowed onto everyone he met. Ray was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and it was not far from there, at Conneaut Lake near Erie, that he met the love of his life, Carol Miller. They married on September 28, 1968, beginning a 57-year journey filled with devotion, partnership, and an unshakeable faith in God. Carol remained by his side through every season of life, including his courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Shortly after their marriage, Ray entered the United States Army in 1969. He served with honor as a First Lieutenant in the Military Police, guarding sensitive weapons storage in Pirmasens, Germany, where Carol joined him during his two-year tour. Ray later served in Korea as a Captain and commanding officer of the military prison there. His leadership, integrity, and dedication to others were evident from the very beginning. After completing his service, Ray and Carol returned to Youngstown, Ohio, where Ray joined Michigan Hanger Company, the family business founded by his father, Edgar Rumble. He became an integral part of the company’s growth and success. In 1996, the Rumbles moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia, where Ray oversaw the company’s southern branch. When the business was later sold, Ray found a new calling as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. This role became more than a career—it became a ministry. Ray cared for his clients not only financially but spiritually and personally, often praying with them and offering support far beyond the office walls. He continued this meaningful work until his retirement in 2019. Ray’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Miller Rumble, of Canton, Georgia; his children, Christopher Rumble (Alecia) of Covington, GA, Carol Ann Gnagie of Louisville, KY, Erin Moore (Matt) of Bethlehem, GA, and Sarah Copa (Danny) of Marietta, GA; his brother, Edgar Rumble (Laura) of Poland, OH; and his sisters, Rosemary Ridal (John) of North Port, FL, and Deborah Flanagan (John) of Cohasset, MA. He was the proud grandfather of Bailee Rumble, AnnaBelle Moore, Jack Gnagie, Luke Gnagie, and step-grandsons Rylar Copa and Ezra Copa. His grandchildren brought him endless delight, and he reveled in every moment spent playing, teaching, or adventuring with them. Ray lived life with enthusiasm and childlike wonder. He built a go-kart for Chris, trained with him for baseball season, and spent countless days fishing, camping, and exploring with his family. He cheered Erin on at her dance recitals, supported Sarah throughout soccer season, and treasured every visit with Carol Ann. Family trips in their 40-foot motorhome were among his happiest memories. A true tinkerer at heart, Ray loved restoring old cars, riding motorcycles, racing, golfing, traveling with Carol, and playing classical piano. His home—and his heart—were always open to anyone in need, including many four-legged friends over the years. Of all Ray’s passions, none surpassed his love for Jesus Christ. In their late twenties, he and Carol came to faith together, and it transformed his life. His Lutheran upbringing blossomed into a personal, vibrant relationship with God—one he joyfully shared with others. Ray never missed an opportunity to encourage someone, pray with them, or speak of the hope found in Christ. His Bible became his anchor, and his faith shaped every part of who he was. While his family grieves the tremendous loss of his presence, they rejoice in the certainty that he is now whole, healed, and seeing his Savior face to face. The hope of reunion—“maybe soon,” as Ray often said—gives them strength until they meet again. Ray Rumble’s legacy is one of joy, generosity, unwavering faith, and deep love. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who were blessed by him, and countless lives forever touched by his kindness. Funeral services are scheduled for 12:30 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Georgia National Cemetery with Army Honors. Elder Mitchell Duncan will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday from 11:00AM until the funeral hour.
