Simpson Kelley Harwell, age 52, died July 4, 2014 in Canton, GA. He was born in Rome, GA on February 25, 1962, the youngest son of Alfred and Camille Harwell. Kelley attended Armuchee High School, class of 1980, and served in the United States Air Force until 1987. Kelley became a proud father to his son, Bryan, in 1983 and to his daughter, Jessica, in 1989. On October 1, 1999, Kelley married his one true love and best friend, Jill Harwell. While in the Air Force, Kelley was a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist for over 5 years. Kelley resided in Cherokee County with his wife and stepdaughter, Maria Wright, for over 15 years. Kelley was an honest, loving man with a heart of gold who always laughed and told jokes. Kelley could always be found out on the lake fishing, one of his favorite pastimes. Most of all, Kelley loved to surround himself with all of his family and friends. Burial will be in the Georgia National Cemetery with Air Force Honors Friday July 18, 2014 at 1:30PM. Kelley is survived by his wife, Jill; his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Beth Harwell; his daughter, Jessica Harwell; his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Matt and Maria Wright; his father and stepmother, Al and Joan Harwell, his sister, Patty McEwen, his brother, Lee Harwell, his sister, Marie Yarber; and his mother-in-law, Fran Fasce. A memorial service will be held at Darby Funeral Home on Monday, July 7th in Canton, Georgia at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any charity helping families of military veterans.
