Obituary for Cheryl Lynn Jarrett August 22, 1958 – January 29, 2021 With the unexpected passing of Cheryl Lynn Jarrett age 62 of Holly Springs, Ga on Jan 29, 2021, the world lost a freedom-loving, compassionate soul. Cheryl was born in Charlotte, NC. She and her family moved to Georgia in 1963. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church where she made a profession of faith at a very early age. After graduating from Joseph Wheeler High School in 1976, Cheryl spent many years heading up sales at Jasper Jeep. She was a well-known expert whose technical knowledge about Jeeps rivaled the best mechanics. As a Jeep enthusiast, she participated in the annual Jeep Jamboree for several years. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open CJ’s Unlimited in Canton, Ga, where other auto aficionados might stop in or gather for conversation. Cheryl never tired of matching needs and resources and using her deep network of connections to find a special part or perfect gift. In her time as business owner, she gave many opportunities to young people to work part-time, grow their skills, and get experience. In the last ten years, Cheryl was a faithful companion to the elderly as a home healthcare helper, where she was beloved by her clients and their families alike. She was fiercely proud of her son, Christopher Pence of Tate, Ga, and his decision to serve his community as a firefighter in one of the busiest fire stations in the nation. Christopher and his wife, Heather, delighted Cheryl with the gifts of two grandchildren, Alex (18) and Bayleigh (15). Cheryl counted it an honor to be stepmom to Melissa Duncan of Canton, Ga., whom she loved and cared for as her own. She also helped to raise her nephew, Brandon Jarrett of Douglasville, Ga, and loved him like a son. Additionally, she is survived by her mother and stepfather, Yvonne and Chuck Haase of Marietta, Ga, brothers Blaine Jarrett of Gretna, Va, Tommy Jarrett (Chio) of San Jose, Ca and sister Donna (David) Harris of Calhoun, Ga as well as loving nieces and nephews, countless cousins, treasured aunts and uncles and lifelong friends. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Charles Wayne Jarrett and her brother, C. Wayne Jarrett, Jr. Cheryl was always up for a good joke and allowed others to be who they were. Her experiences with chronic pain and illness gave her a deep understanding of the hardest parts of life and for this reason, perhaps, she was able to show compassion to folks from all walks of life. Her family will miss her directness and snarky sense of humor even as they are comforted with the blessed hope that she is now free from pain and suffering, enjoying Heaven with her Savior. In lieu of flowers, the family request any donations be made to: Kiwanis Club of Jasper-Pickens 134 Charles Avenue Jasper, GA 30143
