Gordon Edward Trent
October 29, 1943 - March 26, 2022
There was a celebration in heaven and a joyous reunion when Gordon Edward Trent ran through the heavenly gates fashioned of pearl on March 26, 2022. Gordon was born in New York, NY on October 29, 1943, to a Canadian father who was an active military veteran and an American mother in the midst of WWII. After the completion of the war, the family lived in Toronto, Ontario and later lived in Calgary, Alberta. At the age of seven, Gordon and his younger brother and their mother returned to the U.S. and lived on his grandmother’s horse farm in Southport, CT. He went on to become a licensed plumber/pipefitter. He worked in skilled trades at General Motors and retired from there after 30 years of employment. He was the father of six wonderful children and a bonus father to two stepchildren and a grandfather to eleven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. Gordon was blessed with the gifts of encouragement and generosity. He and his wife of 36 years, Maureen Renate Christine Trent, began as acquaintances and ended as best friends. His most significant life-changing moment was when he surrendered to the mercy of God and became a son of God through salvation in Jesus Christ. Gordon was a fervent Christ-follower for 37 years, and the transformation in his life, for the better, was apparent to all. He never wavered in his faith and was known for being a “prayer warrior.” If you’re reading this, he most likely prayed for you. Gordon leaves behind a gang of friends and family including his wife Christy, daughters Christine and Kimberly, sons Matthew, Peter, Adam and Daniel and stepchildren Corey and Shanna. He leaves behind a gaggle of grandchildren including Marty, Ashley, Anna, Oliver, Evelyn, Maelyn, Lucas, Addison, Paige, Nolan and Oscar; step-grandchildren Kaylee, Austin, Logan and Haydyn and step-great-grandson Levi. He leaves daughters-in-law Nancy, Ali and Courtney and step-son-in-law Chuck and one brother Eric. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel Alpharetta on April 16th at 10:00 a.m. at 200 James Road, Alpharetta, GA. A live stream will be available on their website at www.calvaryalpharetta.com.
