Lois Joyce Turi Crawford, 82, of Jasper, passed away, April 19, 2022 of extended illness. Lois Crawford was born in Tenafly, NJ, May 19, 1939. She graduated from Kennesaw State University and Emory University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Kennesaw State University and a Master’s of Library Science from Emory University. She married Clifton Lee Crawford on Nov. 8, 1958. Her library career began at North Carolina State followed by Louisburg in North Carolina. She worked for the Sequoyah Regional Library System in Cherokee county, Georgia until retirement. Before receiving her degrees and while in school, she stayed home to raise her three children. She valued art in all forms including: theater, musicals, ballet, orchestras, history, and paintings. Her young adulthood was filled with travel throughout Europe and the United States with her husband and family, where she enjoyed learning history and made many friends. Cooking and crafts were some of her favorite hobbies. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and taking them to plays and performances. Lois’s family was the most important thing to her. She is survived by her children: Clifton Ronald (Nancy) Crawford, Christine (Craig) Larsen, Craig Lawrence Crawford; her grandchildren: Hannah-Leigh Crawford, Caleb Crawford, Brett (Ashley) Larsen, and Brooke Larsen; her sister Patricia Turi Arnold; and her sister-in-law, Anita Turi. Memorial service will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia at a later date. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the Crawford family.
