    Mrs. Mildred Aneta Bennett Barcus

    September 11, 1927 - September 11, 2021

Mildred Aneta Barcus (always known as Aneta) passed in Canton, Georgia on Saturday, September 11, 2021. The date is special, as it was her 94th birthday and also the day she was taken to Heaven to celebrate her life. Aneta was born September 11, 1927 in Guthrie Center, Iowa to the late Harry and Laura Bennett. She graduated from Panora High School in 1945 and after graduating worked at Banker’s Life Insurance Company in Des Moines, Iowa. Aneta married the late Floyd J. Barcus on March 28, 1948 at the Christian Church in Panora, Iowa and three children were born from this union. She devoted her younger life to raising her three children. Later in her life, she worked in the personnel department at Methodist Hospital and Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri and in the personnel department for G. Fox in Trumbull, Connecticut. Aneta retired with her husband in Sun City West, Arizona in 1987. She loved watching the sunrise with her first cup of coffee early each morning and had diverse interests which included gourmet cooking, golfing, playing bridge, traveling, sewing, volunteering in the nursery at their local hospital along with entertaining friends and family. She had a love for life and a tenacity for never giving up. Aneta, along with her husband, were active members of Shepard of The Hills United Methodist Church. In 2009 she and her husband relocated to Canton, Georgia to be closer to their two daughters. Aneta leaves to cherish her loving memory: her daughter, Gloria Skinner (Bob) Ball Ground, GA; her daughter, Deborah Turcol (Tom) Canton, GA; her son, Greg Barcus (Cathy) Carmel, IN. Her four grandchildren: Amy Coates, Megan Gripe, Elizabeth Schoenrock and Ryan Skinner along with her five great grandchildren: Annabell and Benjamin Gripe, Richard and William Schoenrock and Wrigley Skinner. Aneta will be placed next to her husband in the Columbaria at Shepard of The Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West, Arizona in a private ceremony shared with family and friends next Spring.
