Obituary

Stephen Herbert Chambers, aged 67, passed away peacefully May 13, 2016 due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Joan Chambers of Canton, his son Ben Chambers and Ben's wife Christine of Seattle, WA, a sister Pam (Roger) Shoffner, brother-in-law Carl (Julane) Heiss of Oshkosh, WI, sister-in-law Mary Wysocki of Ashburn, VA and a host of nieces and nephews.

Steve was born on October 18, 1948 in Sydney, OH to Myron E. Chambers and Esther Herbert Chambers. He graduated from Sydney High School in 1967 where he excelled in academics, football and tennis. He went on to Miami University of Oxford, OH where he graduated in 1971. He later received an MBA from the University of Wisconsin in 1974.

His career was in the pulp and paper industry, starting at Appleton Papers in both Wisconsin and Ohio. In 1998 he moved to Roswell, GA and continued his career with Georgia Pacific Corp. where he was employed until his early retirement in 2009 due to Parkinson's Disease.

Stephen was active in many sports including football, baseball, tennis, and golf. He started his love of travel directly after college when he participated in a Pan American Airways around the world flight. He loved traveling the world both for business and most of all, with his family.

Most recently he enjoyed photographing the places he loved and displaying those photos throughout his home and in offices and homes of special people in his life. He loved adventure, trying new things and most of all he loved people. He never let his disease get him down.

Stephen requested no services be held. Any memorials may be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at michaeljfoxfoundation.org.

The family would like to thank their close friends for their love and support these last few weeks. Also, special thanks to the staff of Crossroads Hospice for the care and support given to Stephen and his family.

The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.
