Obituary

Alice Faye Eldridge, 85, of Ball Ground, GA passed away peacefully in her home on April 7, 2024. She was born September 7, 1938 in Tampa, FL. She met her husband at Florida Christian College in Tampa and they were married three months later on February 14, 1958. Their marriage lasted 64 years until his passing and she still talked about the good times and challenges they faced together. She is preceded in death by him, Calvin Eldridge Jr, her daughter, Natalie Louise, her grandson's Ryan and Christopher, her son-in-law, Mike Newman, and sister, Marvina Lodge. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Newman, her son, Calvin Eldridge (Sheri), her grandchildren, Melissa Bronson (Jason), Alison Borton (Chad), Jamie Coogan (Zach), Kimberly Grissom (Marc), Jennifer Bannochie (Doug), many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren (23), three nephews and one niece. She was employed by Riverside and then St. Vincents hospital as a RN in Jacksonville, FL, for 30 years and was dedicated to her profession. She loved and adored her family. Her favorite pastime was to study the scripture and even in her final months encouraged as many as she could to know God. She would get friends laughing when she would talk about her favorite pets that she had including rabbits, squirrels, dogs and cats alike. Unlike her earlier years when she was a bit shy as she would describe herself, in her later years she never met a stranger and tried to reach out to anyone and make them feel welcome. Mom liked her crafts and over the years tried just about everything you can imagine from sewing to embroidery to quilting to so many other things. She was very creative and made everything from a wedding dress to quilts. She loved a good game of cards, especially when she was winning. In her final hours our loving church family came together to sing hymns just as they did for dad and we know that it brought her great comfort. We want to thank the faithful brothers and sisters at Mountain View Church of Christ who showed her and our entire family so much love.
In lieu of flowers, please give to the adoption agency our church family works with, Sacred Selections. We have so many that have been blessed by this organization. Sacredselections.org/donate or mail to Sacred Selections, 723 W. University Ave #265, Georgetown, TX 78626. Mom would much rather you do something good for someone else.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 11th from 5-6pm at Darby Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the visitation at 6pm in the chapel of Darby Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Iramell officiating.
