Obituary

Alvina Bernice Reyerson, of Marshalltown, Iowa, peacefully passed away in Canton, Georgia, on November 25, 2025. She departed this world one day before her 70th wedding anniversary, reuniting with her beloved husband, who preceded her in death a year and a half ago.

Alvina was born on March 19, 1939, in Clear Brook, Minnesota, to Alvin and Bernice Nielsen.

In 1953, Alvina was standing on a sidewalk in Virginia, Minnesota, when a brand-new Mercury pulled up, and a young man asked if she or any of her friends wanted to take a ride. That young man was Henry Reyerson, and lucky for him, Alvina agreed. She even went out with him again after a sawed-off shotgun unexpectedly rolled out from under the car seat and nudged her heels—a story they would laugh about for years. The rest was history. They went on to raise five children on a picturesque piece of farmland in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Alvina was known for her deep love and commitment to her family, her strong-willed nature, her kind heart, and her immense generosity. She was truly the backbone of her family. An animal lover from a young age, she grew up with horses and later, had many dogs, whom she missed dearly. Alvina had a flair for fashion that was uniquely her own, always perfectly put together and original. She had a knack for turning even the simplest outfits into a statement, her impeccable taste matched only by the confidence with which she carried herself.

She and Henry's example of living a life of kindness, integrity, and generosity will be carried on in the hearts of all who knew them. Through their actions, they taught the importance of love, patience, and putting others before oneself—a legacy we're all very proud of.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry; her parents, Alvin and Bernice; her sister, Beatrice; and her brothers, Niel and Ted. She is survived by her children, Colleen Reyerson; Rodney Reyerson (Tenie); Cynthia Lutes (Mark); David Reyerson (Kristi); and Diane Warren (Aaron); her brother, Peter (Vanna) Nielsen; her grandchildren, Sheena Armstrong (Jason), Melissa Slifer (Cory), Calee Scilabro (Dylan), Stephanie Reyerson, Gabrielle VanMetre (Matt), Emma Reyerson, Ryan Reyerson, and Katy Reyerson; and her great-grandchildren, Rowan, Evra, and Sawyer.

Alvina and Henry will be laid to rest together at Georgia National Cemetery on December 8, 2025 — a fitting tribute to a life and love that endured through the decades.
