Anthony George Basila, age 65, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Northside Hospital Cherokee.

Anthony was born on July 22, 1960, in Orlando, Florida, to the late Joseph Basila and Betty Jean Basila. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who lived his life with purpose, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.

Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Basila, and his sister, Sandra Grether. He is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Basila of Canton, Georgia; his son, Kyle Basila of Boston, Massachusetts; his mother, Betty Jean Basila of Orlando, Florida; his brothers, John (Sharon) Basila of Orlando, Florida, and Richard (Sandra) Basila of Dacula, Georgia; and his sister, Theresa (Ron) Hawkins of Orlando, Florida.

Anthony found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was a passionate cook and proud grill master who loved preparing meals for family and friends, especially smoking meats to perfection. He cherished time spent at the beach and fishing, with St. George Island, Florida holding a special place in his heart. He and his wife, Laurie, shared many memorable weekend adventures, exploring the mountains of North Georgia and North Carolina hiking, visiting museums, discovering local breweries, and embracing new experiences together.

A man of strong work ethic and dedication, Anthony built a career centered on serving others. He was known for his reliability, integrity, and the genuine kindness he extended to everyone he met. His presence left a lasting impression on colleagues, clients, and friends alike.

Above all, Anthony was a happy and selfless man who lived with a servant’s heart. He was always there for his family, offering support, encouragement, and love without hesitation. His legacy of compassion and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Antioch Christian Church, located at 3595 Sugar Pike Rd in Canton, Georgia. A reception will follow at the Basila residence.

Anthony will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
