Obituary

Arthur "Art" N. Pelicas passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife Irene (maiden name Santos); two daughters Cynthia Scherpf and Debra DiBiccari, and their respective husbands Joseph Scherpf and Lawrence DiBiccari; granddaughters Stephanie (and partner Felipe), Christina (and husband James), Victoria (and soon to be husband Devin), Olivia, and Julia; and great granddaughters Joy and Flora and (soon to be great grandson) Kayson. He is survived by his siblings Alice Pinho, Frank Pelicas, Rosemary Triaca, and Lucinda Ventura, and many nieces and nephews.

Arthur was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on July 8, 1934 to Arthur and Anna Pelicas. He grew up in Danbury, Connecticut and served in the armed forces during the Korean War. Arthur worked for Sandy Hook Fabric Fire Hose for many years and then at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Connecticut, where he enjoyed building Black Hawk helicopters. Upon retiring in 1997, Art and his wife Irene moved to Ormond Beach, Florida and spent many years dancing the night away with close friends before moving to Canton, Georgia to be near their beautiful granddaughters, Victoria, Olivia and Julia, so that they could watch them grow up.

Art was an avid gardener and had "the best lawn on Bullet Hill Road in Danbury, CT," according to the neighborhood kids who thoroughly enjoyed his yard. He carried his green thumb all the way to Canton, GA where he tended to his meticulous yard, paying close attention to his knockout roses and his bountiful peach tree. After moving in with his daughter Debbie and son-in-law Larry a couple of years ago, he could be found trailing Larry in the yard spouting out directions on how to mow the lawn and trim the shrubs. This very special man now has a garden waiting to be tended to up above. Art will be remembered for his playfulness, particularly while enjoying his favorite music from "the good ole days" as it brought such wonderful memories when he and Irene would be the highlight on the dance floor.

Art will be laid to rest at Georgia's National Cemetery in Canton, GA on a perfectly manicured hillside. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30. A private burial will follow the Memorial Service. Mandatory masks required. Donations may be made in Art's memory to The Parkinson's Foundation.

The funeral service will be live streamed. You can view it here: https://vimeo.com/event/921434
