Barbara Jean Parham Maffett, 66, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on February 16, 2013 after her courageous 13 year battle with ovarian cancer.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Canton First United Methodist Church at 930 Lower Scott Mill Road, Canton, Georgia 30115. Reverend Jim McRae will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Darby Funeral Home.
Barbara was born in Paris, Texas on September 11, 1946. She graduated from East Lamar High School.
Barbara was married to Dave Maffett, the love of her life, on August 8, 2003; they were married nine years.
Barbara was very involved in her community and in her church. She was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Dave Maffett, her daughters, Deania Parham Piper and Allison Parham Dabney, three grandchildren, her four beloved sisters, Nora Anderson White, Reva Anderson Stout, Sandra Anderson Eggleston, Pam Anderson Butler and Dave's three children, Ryan Maffett, Katie Maffett Coleman and Patrick Maffett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Ovarian Cancer Institute ( www.ovariancancerinstitute.org/contributions.html ). The family of Barbara Jean Parham Maffett wishes to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Northside Hospital, Northside Infusion Center and Northside Cherokee Lab for their loving care.
