Betty Jo Holcombe Harris, age 86 of Ball Ground, passed away on February 4, 2018 at Canton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong resident of Ball Ground, Betty Jo was a devoted wife and mother and was the pianist at her church, Ball Ground First Baptist, for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lamar Harris, and her parents, Chester Lee and Irene Montgomery Holcombe. She is survived by her children: Steve (Susan) Harris of Ball Ground, Lee (Becky) Harris of Ellijay, Marsha (Eric) Slagle of Columbia, SC, Melba Harris of Louisville, KY, and Alan (Terri) Harris of Canton. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Visitation will be held from 2:00PM to 9:00PM on Wednesday, February 7 at Darby Funeral Home in Canton. Celebration of life service will be held at Ball Ground First Baptist Church on Thursday, February 8 at 11:00AM with the Rev. Jeff Brown officiating. Interment at the church cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations go to the Ball Ground First Baptist Church building fund. The family would also like to recognize the staff at Canton Nursing Center for the loving care provided to Betty Jo over the past 4 years.
