Billie Thomas Davis died on August 5, 2016 in Marietta, Georgia. She was 86.
Mrs. Davis was born on March 6, 1930 in French Camp, Mississippi. She graduated from Delta State College in 1951 and married Robert Eugene Davis in 1952. She was a Home Economics Teacher for Memphis City Schools and Dietician for Children's Hospital in Memphis but was a homemaker while raising their four children. In 1975, Billie and Bob bought a secretarial service business in Atlanta, Georgia which Billie ran for 15 years.
Billie was very active in the community. She was a member of the Cherokee County Friends of the Library, Northside-Cherokee Hospital Auxiliary, Canton Downtown Development Authority, Trayletaah Garden Club, Canton Historical Society and served in many leadership positions in these organizations. She rode in the BRAG (Bike Ride Across Georgia) at the age of 65 and became a Master Gardener at 77. Billie loved gardening and their property on Beavers road in Canton, Georgia reflected that.
Mrs. Davis was a devoted mother and wife and will be greatly missed by her husband, Robert "Bob" Davis, her daughters Debra (and Tom) Hutchinson, and Diane Clark (and Richard Hicks), sons Dave (and Mimi) Davis and Dru (and Regina) Davis and seven grand children.
Visitation will take place at Darby Funeral Home on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. A memorial will take place on Saturday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Darby Funeral Home in Canton. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Billie's life. Billie loved flowers but donations to Cherokee County Friends of the Library could be an appropriate alternative. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.
