Bonita Jo Davis, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. She was born on November 15, 1956, and lived a life marked by faith, determination, generosity, humor, and a personality much bigger than her 4-foot-7-inch frame.

Bonita was preceded in death by her father, Evans H. Davis; mother, Patsy Ann Lively; brother, Donald H. Davis; twin sisters; and another brother, all three of whom passed away shortly after birth. Her family finds comfort in knowing that Bonita has now joined those loved ones in Heaven.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Davis and Brian Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Roger Dobson; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and many others whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing her.

And if you were one of Bonita’s nieces or nephews, chances are you were her favorite. She made sure to tell each one so—it just depended on which one she happened to be talking to at the time.

Bonita was affectionately known as the “Bingo Queen” at the Cherokee Center for Nursing Home in Canton, Georgia, where she resided. She loved playing bingo and would often use her winnings to collect stuffed animals, which she saved to give to the little ones at family gatherings. That simple gesture reflected Bonita’s giving heart. She found genuine joy in giving to others and seeing them happy.

At family gatherings, however, there was little question about who was in charge. Bonita could take her place in a chair and, from there, rule the room like a queen. At only 4 feet 7 inches tall, she could command a room like a giant, and everyone knew to heed her bidding.

Bonita shared an especially close bond with her sister, Pamela, who was her faithful advocate and protector. Bonita was never afraid to remind someone that if they messed with her, she would tell her sister—and Pamela was always willing to go to battle on Bonita’s behalf if that was what it took to make her happy. Their relationship was one of deep love, loyalty, and devotion.

Bonita’s determination was just as remarkable as her personality. Against the odds, she earned her bachelor’s degree, an accomplishment that spoke to her perseverance and strength. She was quick-witted and had a wonderful ability to catch people off guard with her funny comments. With Bonita, you never quite knew what she might say next.

She also loved good food. Red Lobster was a favorite, but in Bonita’s opinion, nothing compared to Roger’s home cooking. At family gatherings, she was known to enjoy several plates, leaving everyone wondering how someone so small could possibly put away so much food.

Above all, Bonita loved the Lord. She accepted Christ as her Savior many years ago, and her faith remained an important part of her life. While living in Austell, Georgia, she attended Floyd Road Baptist Church and especially enjoyed joining the church in its ministry of feeding the homeless. Her willingness to serve others was another reflection of the generous heart she carried throughout her life.

There are some people who simply cannot be adequately described by a list of facts or accomplishments. Bonita was one of those people. People didn’t just know Bonita—they experienced her. Her humor, determination, generosity, commanding personality, and love for her family made her unforgettable.

Bonita Jo Davis may have been small in stature, but she leaves behind an enormous void in the lives of those who loved her. Her family will remember the Bingo Queen, the giver of stuffed animals, the ruler of family gatherings, the sister who knew Pamela always had her back, the aunt who somehow made everyone her favorite, and the woman whose wit and personality could fill any room.

She was deeply loved, and she will be dearly missed.
