Major (Ret) Harold Boyette Edge Jr., 71 of Pell City, AL died Monday, October 19, 2009 at his home.  He was born April 10, 1938 in Fayetteville, NC.  He is preceded in death by his parents Harold Boyette, Sr. and Thelma Edge, brother Ronald Edge and sister Patricia Chapman. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Ruth Ann Edge of Pell City, AL, daughter and son-in-law, Renée & John Walsh of Marietta, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Chester & Roberta Edge of Eatonton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry & Elizabeth Edge of Monroe, NC; granddaughters Savannah Crandall, Shelby Crandall and  Jennifer Browne (Patrick). He retired from the United States Army after 26 years of service, having attained the rank of Major. He was a highly decorated solider who served two tours in Vietnam.  He is the recipient of the numerous commendations and medals including the Silver Star, Bronze Star with four Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart. Funeral services including full military honors will be held October 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 6 pm - 8 pm at Darby Huey Funeral Home, Canton, GA.
